Student Uniforms and Dress Code
Many things we do as people living our daily lives make a statement about who we are. How we dress is one of the ways we do this. At school, we don’t want our students defining themselves by how they dress or what they wear, but by their character. A uniform is just that; something that creates uniformity. By having uniformity in appearance we can further emphasize that they demonstrate their individuality by character traits like kindness, determination, sharing, and helpfulness. While it also serves the purpose of establishing professionalism, it’s ultimately not about appearance. It’s about accentuating your character and showing others who you are by your qualities.
The end goal of implementing uniforms is to have a very clearly defined uniform option. At the most basic level this will be a Dexter t-shirt. We are working on getting a timeline back from French Toast on when we can reasonably expect the Dexter page on their site to be available and when we can expect them to be able fulfill orders for other uniform options. The options available through French Toast will not be required and are optional. We are also working with them on what options they can provide and what will be offered through our page on that site. Dexter t-shirts and other apparel will be available through our Teespring page at https://dexterschool.creator-spring.com/
The daily uniform requirements will be:
Otherwise, all dress should follow Dexter dress code according to the Student & Family Handbook
Please let us know if you have any additional questions regarding dress code and uniforms.
Hello Dexter Families!
We had our pre-planning meeting with Cognia yesterday in preparation for our engagement review next month. It was decided to push the review date from July to September so that the review team could more accurately observe classes as they occur during a regular term. We also received more clarity on the timeline for accreditation. There will be an October commission to review candidates. After this review we will be able to formally claim accreditation status and it will retroactively cover the school year. We had been pushing for the July review with the understanding that it would expedite our approval, however it appears the approval timeline is the same either way and will not delay our timeline.
We will continue to keep you updated on this process as we progress.
